ABOUT

Since 1927, Northwest has brought excellence and tradition to northwest Mississippi by providing quality, affordable higher education. Our students graduate with the academic foundation toward a four-year degree or the technical skills needed for a rewarding career path. Regardless of their ambition, students from Northwest’s 11-county district have found an effective and affordable education just a short distance from home. At Northwest, training and educating tomorrow’s skilled work force is priority one.

At Northwest, training and educating tomorrow’s skilled work force is priority one.

On the Senatobia campus, students can still choose from more than 60 pathways for academic transfer to a four-year college or university. Classes are taught by qualified, dedicated faculty who serve as advisers in their field of expertise. Classes are small enough for instructors to know students by name. If students want to go to college for two years and then join the work force, they can choose from nearly 40 Career and Technical programs located on campuses in Senatobia, Southaven, and Oxford, or at our off-campus sites in Olive Branch and Ashland.

Students can even go to college on their own schedules by taking courses online through Northwest’s Division of eLearning. Northwest offers more than 100 Academic and Career and Technical classes online. eLearning at Northwest has been recognized as one of the top 50 public, two-year online colleges in the nation, and fully-online associate degrees are offered in 15 pathways and programs.

Northwest offers the total 'college experience' in campus living, especially for students attending the main campus in Senatobia. Nine residence halls provide housing for more than 1,000 students, and most of the dorms offer apartment-style living.

If students have special skills or interests, they can further develop those skills and learn more about leadership by participating in one of our 30 clubs and organizations on campus. Opportunities for performers are found in Fine Arts organizations, which include the Northwest concert bands, Ranger Marching Band, Jazz Band, Rangerettes, Singers and Entertainers and in speech and theatre productions. Artists find opportunities to showcase their works in student exhibitions and art sales.

Northwest is known nationwide for its tradition of excellence in athletics, and students can compete in a variety of sports on the intercollegiate level. Varsity sports include football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, baseball, women’s softball and rodeo.
